Lido Key Condominiums - Update

As we reported in our August post, the Lido Key condos market was steady all summer. Summer is usually the slow season in Sarasota, but we were getting calls and showing property throughout the summer months. The increased activity was probably due to the $8,000 tax credit and also partially due to investors scooping up properties at rock bottom prices. Condominiums on Lido Key in the affordable buildings are saw more traffic and as reported, requests for information on our website are up considerably!

A European style beach, Lido Key Beach sees visitors from around the world every year. The Lido Key condos market has been steady this summer. Summer is usually slow, but this year business seems to be rather steady. Condominiums on Lido Key in the popular buildings are seeing more traffic and requests for information on our website are up from last year!

Green Flash - A Lido Key Sunset Beach Drink

At the Ritz Carlton Beach Club on Lido Key Beach, not too long ago, we noticed several couples sipping on what we later found to be a Green Flash. I’m sure you’ve heard of the green flash of light at sunset. You can’t always see it, but, when you do, the flash is an extraordinary quick glimmer of light right before the sun disappears in the horizon.

The Ritz Carlton is known for its fabulous Chocolate Martinis so once we noticed the Green Flash, we were ready to try this alluring new drink. We were told the Ritz’s own Peter Whitely, bartender and mixologist invented the mesmerizing concoction. If you are at the Members Only Beach Club on Lido Beach, you might even be present for the nightly sunset ceremony where the Green Flash is sipped by couples searching the Sarasota sunset for that quick green flash.

If you can’t be on Lido Beach for sunset or to test a green flash, here’s the recipe:

Tall glass of ice
1.5 oz gold tequila
2 oz. pineapple juice
2 oz. sour mix
(fresh-squeezed lemon juice and sugar)
Top with Midori melon liqueur. Watch as the Midori trickles down through the colored juices.

Garnish with a cherry fastened to an orange wedge on edge of the glass.

Lido Key Condos

In January, we showed customers from Delaware some Lido Key condos as well as Longboat Key. These units were priced at under $800,000 for a minimum of two bedrooms and two baths, all with Gulf views.

The winter selling season is over, and we thought an update of Lido Key condos under $800,000 was in order.

In the last six months, 8 Lido Key condominiums have sold. From data in the Sarasota MLS, the lowest priced condo to sell in this time period was a unit at Lido Presidential. The condo was listed at $199,000 and the selling price was $196,322. This was a short sale.

Lido Presidential was built in 1974, and residents are not allowed to have pets in this complex.

Built in 1968, the Lido Regency has been undergoing some renovations recently. Work has been done on the sprinkler system, common areas and all elevator renovation is scheduled for completion this summer.

Built in 1974, Lido Key Beach Club is located right next to the Beach Residences of the Ritz Carlton on Lido Beach. This building houses 107 units of mostly two bedroom condos.


The Sarasota MLS reports 10 units for sale at Lido Beach Club. The lowest priced condo is listed at $$385,000 for one bedroom and one bath. If you need an extra bedroom, there is a unit available for $$599,900 with over 1400 sq.ft. and two bedrooms and two baths. The best views in the building are priced at $999,900 for over 1800 sq.ft. Residents are not allowed pets in Lido Beach Club.

The condo was listed at $270,000 and the selling price was $260,000. Lido Harbor Towers was built in 1970, and residents are not allowed pets in this complex.
